Empowering Young Mothers Program
In Haiti, many young mothers face significant barriers, such as limited access to healthcare, education, and support systems. It is estimated that 15-20% of pregnant mothers in Haiti are teenagers. Tragically, when teenagers become pregnant, they are often kicked out of school and treated very poorly by their peers and communities. This marginalization exacerbates their challenges, leading to feelings of isolation and despair.
By providing a holistic education program, we aim to address these challenges through a comprehensive 20-week curriculum that covers essential topics, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, nutrition, mental health, parenting skills, raising healthy babies, and reproductive health. Additionally, we will incorporate activities such as prenatal yoga and community-building exercises to foster a supportive environment for participants.
Supporting teen mothers is not only about individual empowerment but also about strengthening families and communities. By equipping young mothers with the necessary skills and support, we can help keep families intact and reduce the risk of children being placed in orphanages.

Our program will contribute to a nurturing environment where mothers can raise their children with confidence and stability, ultimately benefiting the community as a whole.
Our approach will be culturally sensitive and community-focused, engaging local health professionals, educators, and experienced mothers as facilitators and mentors. This collaborative model will enhance the learning experience and strengthen community ties and support networks. We envision this program as a safe space where pregnant teens and young mothers can share their experiences, learn from one another, and access vital resources. Through workshops and interactive sessions, participants will gain practical skills and knowledge that will help them make informed decisions for themselves and their families.
