Mama Fleri: A Teen Mom Program
"Mama Fleri" means "Mothers Flourishing," from the Kreyòl word fleri, to flourish. It's a name that speaks to who these young women already are: not defined by fear or shame, but capable of growing into strong, confident mothers when someone gives them the chance to flourish.
Every year, girls as young as thirteen find themselves pregnant and afraid, with nowhere to turn. In the Central Department of Haiti, many young mothers face their pregnancy alone. Some are rejected by their families. Some have never been taught how their bodies work, what their babies need, or how to recognize when something is wrong. Fear and shame keep them from asking for help.
Mama Fleri exists so no young mother in our community has to face this alone.

What Is Mama Fleri?
Mama Fleri is a free, ten-week pregnancy education and discipleship program for pregnant girls and young women ages 13 to 20. Each week, participants gather for a class taught with compassion, in their own language, covering everything from how their bodies change during pregnancy to how to breastfeed, recognize danger signs, and prepare for the day their baby arrives.
But Mama Fleri offers more than information. Every class includes mentorship, a shared meal, prayer, and a moment to simply be cared for. Participants build a birth plan, form friendships with trusted women, and leave each week with one more reason to believe their life, and their baby's life, has dignity and purpose.

Why This Matters
Pregnant teens are among the most vulnerable mothers in our community. Many begin prenatal care late, or not at all. Many have no one to ask their questions to. Some are navigating relationships that put them at risk. Mama Fleri meets these young women where they are, with education, encouragement, and a safe place to be known.
What Participants Receive
-
Ten weeks of health education, taught with warmth and without judgment
-
Mentorship from trusted women in the community
-
Fellowship at every gathering
-
A certificate and a reusable postpartum hygiene kit upon completion
-
Ongoing postpartum and breastfeeding support after their baby is born
Our First Group
This fall, Mama Fleri will welcome its first group of ten young mothers in Hinche. We're partnering with local health officials to reach the girls who need this program most, and we're praying this is just the beginning.
